As part of the Imagining Utopia exhibition at the second edition of Imperial Hotel Wonderland, I transformed Room 210 into a lush, immersive jungle. The concept was to create a serene utopia—a place where nature thrived indoors, offering visitors a sense of calm and wonder in the middle of the bustling city.
Covering all four walls, the painted jungle illustrations became the foundation for the experience. To bring the space to life, I added layers of animation through projection mapping, making the static images move and breathe like a living ecosystem. This interplay between the stillness of the painted environment and the movement of light and projection created an atmosphere that felt alive and ever-changing.
The project was as challenging as it was rewarding. It combined detailed painting with the technical complexity of aligning projections to match the intricate illustrations. The result was an idealized natural world contained within a room, a tranquil escape where visitors could immerse themselves in a utopian vision of harmony and balance.
